Introduction to Mental Health
Mental health is a complex issue and lots of factors can put people at risk. This is the first of a series of courses aimed at identifying facts and dispelling myths about mental health and mental illness in our society and in the workplace. We tackle the issue of stigma and explore supportive strategies that you will be able to use to promote well-being in your workplace.
Did you know that there are five major anxiety disorders? This course explores all five and will provide you with ways to handle workplace situations that might increase your anxiety. It will also give you support strategies that can be utilized to assist a co-worker who is struggling.
Mood Disorders is a medical condition that spares no one, including your co-workers. Untreated, they can zap the energy and motivation out of the most productive person. Many people are afraid to let their co-workers or supervisors know that they are experiencing some sort of mood disorder for fear of being seen as weak or concern for their careers. With the right support, mood disorders can be managed, worked around, or overcome.
